February 1, 2026
What a crazy, cold, and disruptive week.! We hope everyone has been warm and safe with this icy winter weather that seems never ending. We love a good snow day, but we're very ready to welcome students back with Open arms!

While our building will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, February 2, shortened classes will be held SYNCHRONOUSLY, and attendance will be taken. This means students will use Google Meet to virtually attend all classes. Links will be found on Canvas course pages, and we will follow the schedule below:
  • 1 Even or 1 Odd 9:00 - 9:20
  • 2 Even or 2 Odd 9:25 - 9:45
  • Period 4 9:50 - 10:10
  • Period 5 10:15 - 10:35
  • Period 6 10:40 - 11:00
  • Teacher Office Hours 11:00-11:30
  • Teacher Planning/Individual Student Appointments 12:00-4:00 pm
Please note these classes will be held at different times:
  • Physics 12:00-12:20
  • AFDA 12:30-12:50
ECA students may have scheduling conflicts. They should follow the Reynolds schedule, and email their teachers if they are unable to attend.

If we remain closed on Tuesday, we will follow the same schedule for Odd day classes.

If we have a 2 Hour Delay any day this week due to frigid morning temperatures, we will follow this Delayed Opening schedule.

Reminder: students were assigned work in all classes prior to our closure. This work should have been submitted according to teacher instructions.

WEDNESDAY, 2/4
THURSDAY, 2/5
  • Electives canceled
  • SMVA field trip 10-2 Astronomy and Physics (tentative)
  • Admissions Makeup Day, 4 pm
The ASVAB – the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery has be rescheduled for seniors to Wed, Feb 11 at Clark Springs ES at 9:00 AM. ECA students should communicate with their professors about their absence.

There is a possibility we will be in school on February 16 and 17, but this decision has not yet been made by the School Board. Stay tuned.

All students should complete this required VA Climate Survey about their school experience:
Student Access Code: OPE53S

Finally, it's National School Counseling Week, so please give some love to our one and only School Counselor Micah Davis. This year's theme is “School Counselors Amplify Student Success,” and highlights the powerful impact school counselors have in helping students succeed in school and beyond. Micah is available during Office Hours, by email, and by apointment for all students and families. Reach out to him at mdavis7@rvaschools.net or 804-780-4661.

Be on the lookout for official RPS closure/delay notices and stay safe!
